About PoP

Hi, I'm Sass. I used to be a teen mom. I'm not anymore. Now I'm in my 30's. Now I'm a 30's mom.

I dig politics - well, actually I dig allowing their existence to piss me off. I have three daughters and politics does not make for the easiest conversation at times - which both pisses me off and gives me a challenge (hence there's a part I dig) .

Do you ever wonder what to say to your kids when they ask about the asshats running this country? How about when they ask about war, poverty, or gay marriage? Do you ever feel stumped?

I do!

It's pretty clear this place is being run by a bunch of lunatics - what's not clear is how to explain that fact to our kids without scaring the ever-loving bejeezus out of them.

I'd love to tell you that Parents on Politics (PoP) is the platform that will teach you how to walk that fine line but when it comes to what's clear and what isn't - it's the lunacy that is, and the lunacy alone.

What I can and will do at PoP, however, is take questions kids ask that are particularly difficult, and take a stab at whining about their difficulty and about and how I see things as a parent who is trying to set an example for the moral code of a smaller person. In each post I'll dissect a "Question of the Week" and attempt to answer to the best of my own liberally skewed ability. I figure the more I talk it out the better prepared I'll be the next time a little political stumper comes around with a question that might otherwise stump.

Disagree with my stabs at it? Good, I love a challenge - tell me why! (And know that your mother wears combat boots)

Want to chime in with a question of your own? Go over to the Your Questions page and shoot me one - and an answer too if you so fancy.

Double dog dare.
